Communications & Learning Design
Hi, I am Karishma Nair.
Need a hand (or a brain) with your business’s communications and content—internal or external? Drop me a message.
About Me
Introduction
In over a decade of experience, I’ve worn many hats—taking on roles, and roles within roles, that may or may not have been related. I’ve been an instructional writer, digital marketer, customer service agent, ghostwriter, event manager, entrepreneur, and more. But at the core of it all, my work has been about communications.
I earned my Master’s in International Business & Emerging Markets from the University of Edinburgh. And yes, I may have spent a few rare sunny afternoons on the green grass, laptop in hand, sipping hot chocolate (with cinnamon), while soaking in the beauty of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Before that, I completed my management studies with a specialization in Marketing from the University of Mumbai, where I also earned my Bachelor’s in Engineering – Information Technology. And yes, there may have been one too many plates of street chaat along the way.
Recent Works

Micro-learning Videos
AdBasics introduces viewers to the fundamentals of digital marketing through short, micro-learning videos on YouTube. This series is a work in progress. Each module focuses on different types of digital marketing, such as search engine marketing, email marketing, and so on.
I’ve been developing these videos using various tools. The process involves writing scripts, recording voiceovers, creating visuals, and designing thumbnails.
Instructional Design – Capstone Project
Having created e-learning content for the US market in the past, I wanted to deepen my understanding of instructional design. So, I took the Certified Instructional Design Practitioners’ Course, an instructor-led program by
KPMG India.
As part of the course, I developed a module using Storyline 360. This module is a small segment of the capstone project and the content is based on the case study provided during the training.

Marcom & Design
Much of my work revolves around marketing and business communications, both online and offline. This could mean researching information and topics for blogs, designing infographic pieces, re-structuring website pages, designing a brochure, or creating a presentation—basically, anything that helps communicate a message effectively.
I use a mix of tools and platforms to bring these pieces to life, depending on what works best for the project.
Educational Video –
Saltatory Conduction
This informative piece intends to answer the question “Why do myelinated neurons conduct nerve impulses faster than non-myelinated ones?” It is created for an audience with a basic understanding of neurons.
Learning, comprehending, and converting the information into a video took a fair bit of research. I used a whiteboard and simple line drawings to explain the concept.
